And since there really aren't many medical doctors in the hospital system that take an interest -- or have expertise -- in a balanced approach to health, I had to look past surgeons, nurses, and Physical Therapists...
Because, for example, I was asked to eat a bunch of protein and couldn't tolerate it... and I was told that if I took a protein break I would go through kidney failure...
And I was told 'not' to lift anything over 10-15 pounds, while it took more weight than that to push myself out of bed... or up from a chair...
Or when I consider that they put bed alarms on me so I wouldn't get out of bed.. while, by the time I left the hospital the nurses had started a walking program thinking that if I could do it with an IV pole, they could do it without one...
Yet, here's the conundrum: to go outside of the typical medical approach meant that I would have to trust people with less education or (perceived) expertise than the surgeons and doctors who saved my life...
I think it was when I was rushed back to the ER one Saturday afternoon and they told me that they couldn't help -- and I had to go home -- that I decided to take health into my own hands...
Trusting, believing, and valuing what I had learned...
Honoring every doctor or nurse who was so kind to treat me and save my life...
And reaching through my (very extensive) network to find a newer/better approach to restoring my health...
Eating right -- or not eating strategically for fasting periods -- was another...
Having more balanced feelings and thoughts was a necessity to take my body out of fight or flight mode...
And spiritual connection was a huge part of my recovery and plays (perhaps) the most important role in my health today.
After reaching through my entire network, including royal families, the United Nations, some members of the White House at the time, billionaires and their resources, etc..
I was introduced to 'epigenetics'; and the science blew me away...
Something I had learned about in college was Body Types, but I had no idea how much was there...
Soon, I was eliminating foods that were no longer a fit for me, adding personal superfoods to my diet, and 'dosing' exercise properly to help my body renew its blood and begin a new blood cycle -- full of health.
